A letter from Adam at Synergy Raw Bakery

Hi -
Synergy Raw Bakery will be going out of business Wed Dec 30
If you have time, keep reading about our plans, partnership possibilities, and sale details.
* Whats going on?
Two years ago I decided to build a little vegan place in PB to continue to spread that personal healthy vibe but also to bring awareness to the plight of the animals in a subtle way. Hopefully Synergy has done that for the many tourists and visitors that came in from time to time. For you regular supporters of Synergy and you readers of my long-winded letters, hopefully Synergy has helped you to move towards your goals as well. Almost every day I am at Synergy I get thanked for the store being there. I hear stories of people who turned vegetarian/vegan, who turned raw to cure a disease, those who believe in animal rights and gained a new sense of awareness. Hopefully the healthy vibe and the animal rights messages will be spread by those who benefitted from Synergy to all those that it could not reach. The country and the world are moving towards this eco-lifestyle. We are still on the cutting edge and some of us will get cut trying to make a noticeable change in the world but as a group this vegan movement is still strong and growing. For now... McWendyKings 1 Synergy 0 It would be great if Synergy could survive on its own but it unfortunately cannot. It kept moving forward albeit slowly and many people liked it so I personally kept it going. But it just takes too much of my time and money to keep it going and I cannot continue to affect my other businesses.

Good Mood Food
I know many of you love our Good Mood Food gourmet vegan meals, desserts and dressings. Thank you so much for your support. Rest assured that our Good Mood Food company has been in existence for 7 yrs and is doing well. We have about 30 products in many stores like Whole Foods, Mothers Markets, Lassens etc. from San Diego, Orange County, L.A., to Ventura County and we are continuing to expand. I liked having our own Synergy store being the only place to get Good Mood Food in the area but after I close Synergy, Good Mood Food and another brand that we are about to launch will be more available throughout San Diego. Starting next week Good Mood Food will be available at our sister company Nature's Express/Vegolution in Hillcrest. I will send out a letter in the next few weeks with more San Diego locations.
GTs Synergy/Kombucha
Also, people have asked if we are part of GT's Kombucha/Synergy company. Nope. I just named the store Synergy. There are actually a lot of businesses named Synergy like Synergy Chiropractic etc. But the funny part came when their distributor came across my store and asked me to be a San Diego distributor for GT's Synergy drink. So I started selling the Kombucha / Synergy to a bunch of other businesses around the area and will continue to do so.

* ONE LAST CHANCE FOR A PARTNER:
I really do like the store we built together and cannot give it my full attention to take it to the next level. There are certain things that would take it over the hump and make it thrive such as:
- offering a service like accupuncture, bodywork, facials, personal yoga studio etc.
- offering a completely different self-created product line in addition to our food and some of the existing products
- possibly a kitchen but there is little space and a lot needs to be changed like the electric, plumbing etc.
- possibly one dedicated volunteer that is self-funded. I tried to run Synergy with multiple volunteers but that never seemed to work so I stopped asking for that help. Thank you to all that helped and to those that offered.
- maybe something else that i cannot think of - I am open to suggestions.
I am open to partnering with someone to keep Synergy going. My goal all along was to get it profitable and to give half of it to someone to run it with the other half's profits going to charity. I would still love to see that. Although I am at the end of my lease, I have lease extension options built in for 5 years if I want them at a good rent as I put a lot into building the store. The rent will go up to normal Garnet Ave prices I am sure once I leave. I also have all the machinery, frigs, stock etc. and Good Mood Food/Natures Express and GT's as a backbone to the store. BUT, I can only offer a little money or time to Synergy so I would need a dedicated self motivated partner. I believe the best way to make the store work is to offer a service like accupuncture/facials etc. If I only had Synergy and wanted to keep it under my direction, that is what I would do. So if you want to do something like that, if you have always wanted to be part of a vegan store or this eco movement, I am sure this will be the easiest way to get involved. If you have your own product line or have a service that you offer lets talk NOW. There can be no delay on this. I have had a lot of people come to me with ideas over the years and I expect some will come to me now and I will need to spend some time considering them. My time is so limited and Dec 30 is going to come quickly so contact me RIGHT NOW if you have an idea.

* SHORT-TERM Synergy Closing Plans - SALE:
You guessed it... BIG SALE on mainly non-food items. Once we are out, we are out... This will be your cheapest holiday presents for sure.
- Hemp, Bamboo and Organic Cotton clothing is now less than my cost...honest. Like $10 for Org. Cotton shirts etc. I have half of my stock in another store and I will bring it back soon for Synergy.
- Metaphysical items lower than my cost as well.
- Some food items will be reduced but I am vegan and don't mind having a big supply for myself so only some will be reduced.

* LONGER TERM PLANS
- I will probably open a Good Mood Food store/restaurant fairly soon. I know... what am I thinking? Why not just keep Synergy? Well, after being in PB for two years and seeing the party side of PB and that vibe that I never knew existed for some reason, I just don't think it is the right place for a dedicated vegan store to thrive. As I said, it needs a service etc. But I believe I can get it to work as it is somewhere else.
- Online presence. As soon as I have a chance I will be improving our online presence with an online store and deliveries. I have wanted to do this for a while.
- New brand launch: We are shooting to launch our additional new brand in January. This will include a host of vegan and raw items. More on this later.

* Hours
Right now we are at Mon 11-8, Tues-Thurs 3-8, Fri and Sat 11-8. I will probably keep to those hours until the end but if you are coming from a long distance you may want to call the store 858-490-2144 as I get pulled in other directions sometimes. I also check this email and will respond daily. We also have the holidays coming up and I will close for a couple days around them. I am personally in the store on Saturdays 11-8 so please stop by if you have a chance and say hi.
I want to thank everyone that has helped Synergy over the years.
Adam
