Special Technique Rotary Tattoo Machines - International Orders

this is a response to a machine inquiry from an artist in indonesia...

hi.. thank you for looking. my name is bill. sometimes my assistant karen also logs in to this account. please also watch my youtube videos here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BJI9WJFRkE.

the price of our machines depends on the amount of time each machine takes to build. of course the more pretty machines take the most time. they all tattoo very nicely. the stroke has been about 3.5mm lately and the speed can usually go past 180-200hz! if you want it slower or faster or big stroke or light weight, just tell me and i will show you a machine. i have been making them VERY fast lately. they go faster than you can tattoo, if you turn it up, and the motor will be still only running at 5.5 volts! or, you can turn it down to 4 volts and pack in thick, gooey colors.

the ones in the latest video are the style i have been making. i make a new video each time i make/sell a few new machines.

i guarantee my parts for a year, and i don't charge much for repairs after that.. like $25-$75 usd. shipping internationally for repairs can be a lot of trouble.

i'm getting better at building, so repairs on the newer machines are getting easier and easier. one day soon i will make rotary machines that the artist can repair himself.

please let me know when you can spend money on a new machine :] and we will help you choose one, or build one for you.

also, have you ordered items from usa before? it is difficult to ship to some places. england post is terrible, for example. they charge a lot of money when you go to pick up your package sometimes.

thanks again

SFO Tattoo Convention Stories

ok so here goes.. i'm tired as hell, excuse the gibberish

sold copter 2 to grime. what an amazing guy. so much enthusiasm. he gave it back today so we can put an rca cord on it since he only uses that. rca rules.

my friend clay decker gave me an rca clipcord adaptor that is sick. the rca pug is CERAMIC inside so we can braze brass to it and add it to the copter 2, with bling..

sold the machine we called 'the nameless' to uptown charlie, a machine builder and collector and shop owner.

i mentioned to him i would kill for a first generation swashdrive and he said he had one almost new in the box.

without telling me, he drove home to wherever and got this thing, it's sick looking and historical too. in the box with extra clips and bushings and the directions.

he was so smitten with our newest brass tracker that he had to have it. he was mostly trying to trade me for the swashdrive, which i wanted very much.. i told him no like 300 times, and said i don't have money to buy museum pieces. he said he couldnt afford to spend any more cash so that was that. which i was relieved at because my partner had asked me not to sell it yet but to jus ttake deposit

at 630 the entire hotel lost power. some dim emergency lites but no outlets at all. this outage lasted til 8 - closing time.

at that moment me n my buddy clay decker were sitting next to his partner RICHARD STELL who was tattooing a rad looking tiger on a kid's leg. richard is a very intimidating person who was vocal about his dislike of rotaries in the past. his friends always said he was a sweetheart but i was terrified of him.

i mentioned to clay that our machines run perfect off usb and he was like yeah and then we can use one of those spelunking lights blah blah and before you know it we had rigged clipcord footswithch usb no rheostat.. i basically PUT the brass tracker in richard stells hand and said TRUST ME YOULL LOVE IT. richard shoved it right in there and took to it immediately, was hauling ass right away. his wife held the spelunking light.

all this happened as every famous motherfucker in the industry was standing around waiting for the power to come back on. it never did. many folks went home with unfinished work including DAVE HARTMAN. anyways richard sure was awful sweet to me after that. he was the only one that tattooed any more at the convention, 1 hour and 2 laptops worth of batteries later the tattoo was finished and looked awesome. richard quite liked the machine..

uptown charlie sold like 4000 dollars worth of shit right at the end an came up and offered me cash for my partner and the swashdrive for me, which i accepted.

Rotary Tattoo Machine Answers

Here are some answers to questions I have recieved about Special Technique rotary tattoo machines.

----

when a rotary tattoo machine has a spring to make the 'hit' softer, it is called 'dampened.' we also say 'it has a dampening mechanism.'

this dampening feels nice to both artist and client. some dampening mechanisms have too many parts. more parts means more chances to break. i like to make the dampening with no extra moving parts, just a well placed spring that softens the 'hit' a little bit. ALL DAMPENING FEELS NICE and you don't need to adjust it on the machine. just turn the power up or down a little bit.

ADJUSTABLE dampening means there is a screw to adjust the tension on the dampener spring. i think these adjustable ones will break down too soon. i made a few, but i worry....

i think our Tracker machines like the first one in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SXvQRj87aI will all have the dampening spring but with NO adjustment screw. two reasons for this: i don't want tattooists messing with my devices, and you should NOT be using one machine for every tattoo task. you should have at least 4 or 5 machines you use every day. no machine can be used by itself to support a tattooist's ENTIRE career. it just doesn't work that way.

----

the machines get tested under the WORST and also BEST possible conditions. i put oil instead of ink in the tube and run all rubber real loose, and i also dry needle that hard rubber practice skin with metal dust and crap all over it... using a 15 mag a lot of the time. it really hammers at the machine's working parts. i really try to give these things some punishment before i send them out. i really go over these things in detail. if something is amiss, i find it right away. when i get all the parts to behave correctly, nothing will change the machine, even in the roughest tattoo conditions, for a year to two years. our parts are becoming more durable and easier to replace as we progress: this aspect of making the machines is a huge emphasis for us. we also buy extra motors well over and above the number of machines we make, just to be on the safe side.

you get a surprising look at other factors in tattooing when the machine never changes. i'm really concerned with nothing else other than showing tattooists this different and enjoyable perspective on their daily task. i've shut off basically everything in life, and devote ALL my time to stressing out about sending mechanical devices to england and switzerland and india.

my partner, brian campbell and i charge a lot for our creations because we know what it's worth to buy a product backed by people who are so devoted to their craft. right now we are obsessed, low-tech mechanical innovators, but we're both interested in machining, mass-production and even engineering classes. who knows what we will turn into, but the point is that we are so into making and sharing mechanical devices that you literally buy a piece of us when you get a machine from us. we have made roughly 60 machines at this time, and we'll have the same attitude after we've made 600 and 6000 machines.

music in your brain

the reptile part of us is still straining to get meaning from sound, because it thinks it's still surviving in the wild. any detail of sound for a wild animal could mean life or death.

this is one of the ways we are enslaved.

also..

sounds that have more cultural relevance to the listener are more enjoyable. conversely, sounds that have no cultural relevance to the listener tend to be boring or offensive.

if a sound is loud, and not culturally relevant to you in any way that you can latch onto, your dislike of it will be twofold... first, it's offending the reptilian remnants of your brain because it might prevent you from detecting food or enemies. second, you can't excuse or justify the sound covering up other sounds because it has no cultural appeal.

in the case of loud cacophonous music, we tend to gravitate towards it because the volume will tend to INCREASE the feeling of cultural relevance..

Special Technique at Conventions

Hi folks.. I'm hoping to attend the following conventions. I don't have details on any of them yet, I've been too busy in the machine shop. If you are interested in sharing a booth with me, let me know. Perhaps I'll hang a banner and tattoo all weekend with 1 or 2 people working for me, or perhaps I'll be leaving my jacket in the booth and mostly wandering around. It varies depending on who's traveling with me etc.

Old Post - Meaningless Meaning

you might want to sit down. this has been said like a billion times before but if you guys all get this now, right now in history, some really crazy changes will happen

like people turning into angels without dying, en masse

here we go...

We are brainwashed to think that 'meaning' itself is waaaaay more important than it really is.

Yuuup, that's right, meaning itself is something we THINK we need to survive, when really we are just programmed to desire it.

...and desire it INSANELY, more than air or water almost. Men go to their graves for this exalted MEEEEEANNIIIINGGGG

As a race, MEANING ITSELF is the main thing we are harmfully strung out on.

I'm not complaining, it's just time in our evolution for humans to see this and be liberated!

Imagine... meaning dissolves...

I understand the whole idea seems preposterous.... unless you're TOTALLY DONE being addicted to and strung out on meaning, metaphor, and symbol structure.

This is the most basic way humans are controlled. Getting the population addicted to 'meaning' is the most frightening and subtle way to program us. Our parents and authority structures tell us to LEARN LEARN LEARN more and more meaning until it's an unstoppable snowball of MEANING ADDICTION. You have to see that it starts when we are infants, or you might have a hard time seeing how you are controlled by this addiction.

I believe psychologists figured this out in the 1940's, that getting the population addicted to 'meaning' makes them very easy to control. That era was the first time mankind had that much technology combined with that much evil intent. So, psychologists working for whatever government were paid or forced to come up with the most effective way to control little ol you and me. They figured out that if you stuff a nation's children full of billions of bullshit-ass metaphors and symbols, along with a ravenous addiction to said metaphors, you get this cascading effect of SYMBOL ADDICTION that makes those children SLAVES TO SOCIAL FORCES AND STANDARDS.

We have no control of ourselves, so it's time to get it...

'Meaning' actually prevents us from seeing the true nature of the universe. We're totally convinced we can really see what's going on with our amazing minds, but really we're filtering everything so hard that we can't really see anything as it actually is.

I think I'm about to go on a crusade against 'meaning!'

This will be interesting.

If I find out a way to sell this totally unoriginal idea that keeps coming up with philosophers thru the ages, i'm gonna cost the economy a lot of money...

Money just won't be the same if shit don't mean shit, bwahaha...

Remember, you can't see, detect, or understand ANYTHING AT ALL without symbolic 'meaning.' (except certain sensations like being stabbed etc.) Try focusing on anything in the universe without being aware of its meaning(s)..

You cant!

(Zen meditation is the absence of meaning/metaphor/symbol. It's like the most complete and refreshing power-down your brainframe can get.)

This problem I have with 'meaning' is the reason I don't welcome religious preaching or theory.

I don't believe you can use 'meaning' to look at god or whatever.

I believe that is the opposite direction of the truth.

Any spiritual practice that encourages more 'whisltles and bells' of meaning switching on in my brain isn't going to make me understand the WHOLE universe, just the MEANING-BASED universe.

I think there's a lot more going on than just what our puny meaning-based central nervous system can understand or even observe.

So far, 'meaning' only exists in the mind, the 'metaphor processor.'

But we are just around the corner from extracting meaning from the brain and storing it in digital form

...and replicating it

...and teaching it to replicate itself

god help them

And to you good people, please become un-addicted to meaning!

So you can't be enslaved by the machines that will manufacture it.

(wow scary)

It would be great if we all became un-enslaved...

BEFORE we get so dependent and ignorant and obsessed that we're like robots.

if you are offended by this

it's because you can't see a life after 'meaning.'

I don't know what it will be like, but I know that materialism leading to war won't be a trend if everyone in society gets control of their metaphors.

If you think this is a nihilistic or destructive idea, you probably think I want everyone to say 'fuck it, nothing means anything' which seems like it would result in carnage and looting to say the least.

I'm not saying 'Everyone go on a destructive rampage!!!'

(duh)

I'm saying 'Everyone take a little time every day to learn THIS about yourselves and you will save the universe without even thinking about it.'

...oh yeah and you'll be more independent and you'll manipulate reality more easily and righteously too.

ok enough

Anyone know if there are nutritional supplements you can take for the part of the brain that processes metaphors?

I want to take inventory of all meanings, and master them.

Keep in mind that some basic metaphors and meaning associations can stay, BY MY CHOICE, NOT because of AUTOPILOT OR DEFAULT SETTINGS CREATED BY MY CONDITIONING.

We must all learn to be SELECTIVE about what meanings we allow to stay(or form) in our minds. We must teach our children to also form and keep meanings using WISDOM instead of AUTOPILOT.

Thanks.

Go teach.

Old Post - The Reptilian Part of Your Brain

The first blog about this subject was not necessarily so organized, or coherent. I also didn't quite include a WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT section. I'm working on it. My apologies, I have been very excited to tell everyone!

The real tour of your mind and the universe is about two 1-hour speeches. It starts with an explanation of how music functions in the mind. Music makes a perfect introduction and also a model by which to describe other experiences. I need to make a video of it. Until then, hit me up any time...

The MAIN scary points to remember about your selfish, aggressive American tendencies are...

A) ...the three forms of reptilian-level tendencies you have that the government and media use to control you:

1-your reptilian urgency to get meaning from sound
2-your reptilian need to conserve calories
3-your reptilian hatred for virtually ANY environmental change

and

B) ...the foolish misconception that this reptilian brain is somehow "fixed" or unchangeable. Another variation on this lie is the idea of an "unconscious mind" that you get to blame your crappy behavior on.

WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT SHITTY AMERICAN-PUBLIC BRAINWASHING THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE WWII:

Try staying mindful of these three reptilian tendencies in your behavior for just a day or two. And watch yourself blaming your bad behavior on some mysterious other being living inside your mind! You'll see similar behavior in others (never critique others! only ask them questions to lead their minds in a better direction!) ...

-be mindful of your programming, and try to watch for it manifesting in your behavior

-reach out to others about this base-level programming, especially persons with an audience or following(teachers, singers etc)

-teach children that they can do ANYTHING in life, and that they're AUTOMATICALLY angels without even trying.

...how can they be angels if we prepare them for life them with poisonous symbol imprintation, runaway appetites, and no wisdom or compassion?

just delete me

or, perhaps, read the content of one of my posts

they are never surveys and always useful

------his reply----------
I started to read a couple so I know the contents.. I didnt say they are surveys i said DONT DO A FUCKING MILLION IN A ROW BROTHA! tone it down a bit....this is MYSPACE...you think everyone is reading EACH AND EVERY ONE? your giving yourself a bit to much credit brotha......
TO MUCH DRAMA .....
you got WAY to much time on your hands sitting around posting THAT many bulletins like we are all just sitting waiting to read your words of wisdom.
I will delete you for sure.
have a good day!
D

---------my reply--------------
there are absolutely no standards or rules on myspace other than the rules myspace enforces

and basic human compassion (for me)

you don't set any kind rules around here buddy

if i think something is important, i will fill everyone's entire lil bulletin space with my bulletins

so they think it might be important

if they think one or two extra clicks(a huge pain in the ass i think you called it) is too much to see their friends' bulletins, they should use facebook

do you think myspace is only for absolutely wasting time talking about whatever bar you go to, or other stuff that's self centered and doesn't have anything to do with waking people up?

i think it's ok to post 1000 bulletins in a row, if it involves educating people

i don't know whats on your mind, perhaps you pick someone every week to have a problem with?

precious seconds of our lives get wasted in ignorance and pettiness

------------his reply---------------
hahahahahah your a douche ...get a life mister educator....hahahahaha

------------my reply
it only takes a minute to post 10 bulletins

hahaha yourself

a life... like being mean to people on myspace?

totally, i'm all over it

-------------------------------------------------------

i deleted him as a friend of course. seems he forgot to delete me, or maybe he wanted to have some more problems with my bulletins.

i also deleted someone who took his side in the matter, stupid aggressive people get deleted in groups.

the american mind, and overall health, are in a dangerous emergency. i don't want everyone to be all gloom and doom, i just want everyone to add ninja skills and awareness to their lifestyle

if you hate my multiple posts, and its a "huge pain in the ass" to click 2 more times, just delete me as a friend, or go use facebook.

thanks to my friends and supporters, and a big FUCK YOU to locker room photographers in the MMA industry...

Special Technique's Manager

Special Technique's manager will have a lot of responsibility, but very little work that is scheduled. We are a group of artists who all have a full life BESIDES our Special Technique projects, but we see the need to develop the company into the monster it's becoming.

Several areas of the company need management. The two main active branches of our focus currently involve music and tattoo devices. These two projects are seemingly unrelated, but once you get involved, you'll see it's all just art. We are here to reach people.

The Dj's representing Special Technique are Peacemaker(myself), MK Ultra, and Rebe||ion. We all deliver the goods in public performances. We are all public figures and active in the So Cal music scene. Having a company/crew identity will help us organize our music careers and also allow us to charge more for performances. Upcoming projects for the DJ department include web presence development, hosting events, and the release of product such as garments, mix cds, and original tunes.

The tattoo machine branch of Special Technique is becoming a household name in the tattoo industry. We are officially backordered, and probably will be for life. We are looking for the right person to help us streamline our activities and be more effective. We need website/facebook work, paperwork organized, supplies ordered and picked up, phone calls made, and notes taken. We need an ongoing to-do list and someone to follow us around reminding us. This is just quick overview, as there are too many tasks to mention. Our minds are so attuned to the task of making better tattoo machines that it is very tough for us to get the office work done.

If you think you have the right personality for this job, we want to hear about it. Remember, we are artists, and need to be treated as such. We will probably not be the best bosses, so it's better if you are getting involved for personal/artistic/ethical reasons. We are looking for someone who sees our company's potential, and is willing to help us work out the bugs.

The main thing we want with our manager is a solid, honest relationship. We will be developing the company together, and putting in time together. We will do everything we say we're going to do, and we will tell you 'no' if we can't handle something. We expect the same in return.

You must have a car and some freedom of schedule. You must also not use hard drugs. You must be willing and able to work at some tattoo conventions and music events. You must be sociable, but not a reckless partier.

Email inquiries to director@specialtechnique.net.

To the yahoos and vikings.

clearly, racism against americans is not the answer for any culture - we'll just kill them off if they have a problem with us. we can go on and on about how what we have going on here in america is so precious but really all we do is stomp on other cultures to preserve our playstation couch time. our freedom is literally at the expense of other cultures, and the environment. it's ugly....

the cia, not 'we the people,' have been in afghanistan controlling the heroin trade since waaaaay before 1992, do some research. i love what the declaration of independece means, but i hate the ugly joke that america has turned into. the govt and obama are owned by the bomb, oil and chem companies. politicians are all OWNED and voting is a sham. obama has little power to do anything. he is a media package and nothing more. the world is an enclosed shell, once we KICK THE ASS of other cultures YEAH AMERICA GO like a bunch of fucking simple cowboys, we gotta sit back and realize we have created generations of new enemies, and we're stuck on this rock with them. duh. we must show our respect for other cultures by NOT supporting our govt with our dollars. the govt's oil agenda has left you with generations of enemies, and you want to CHAMPION THE CAUSE OF OUR GOVT? america, fuck yeah, that's an ignorant way to look at it. only your dollar controls the govt. not voting or even the concept of 'freedom.' only what you spend dollars on makes a difference. trash your television, and do more than 5 minutes worth of google research. the 3 videos you have all probably watched concerning global politics were the TOP 3 VIDEOS i guess, and that's PAID PROGRAMMING not a real view of what's going on in the world. stop buying plastic, eat organic, and spend locally. cut off the machine from your blood and man hours. only in this way can we show the little terrorist babies of the future that it's our SHAM GOVT and not we the people that turned the middle east into a parking lot.

only 2 solutions i can see to fix the ugliness of our species. population control, and another main fuel source. accusing me of being communist is moot. communism is a relic. it's all going to turn into capitalism. there is organic free range beef, for thinking folks who eat beef. i'm not concerned with utopia, only realtime real world solutions. ignoring repercussions in the name of 'we are this and that greatness' has brought us to this very fucked up moment in history. acting like 'hahaha i'm a redneck viking that takes whatever i want from the world' has made the world a fucked up place you're leaving for your kids to inherit. good job, vikings. good job, conquistadors. i'm sure your kids will appreciate the narrow, selfish viewpoint you'll pass on to them. i for one hate having a nice life at the expense of the environment. eat organic so the world is less ugly. conserve fuel so the world doesn't burn. be charitable and humble...

Machines In Stock - June 2010

These are the machines we had in stock at the time of this blog post.

1. Sillver Sub/Hacker Hybrid - A giant stroke shader. Kinda slow but smooth too, not peppery. You can do wash real fast with larger groups 13+ mags etc.. Good amount of give but still the firm push of a rotary.

2. Silver Sub Ultra Light no. 2 - Another Giant stroke shader, more peppery and stabby than above. Super fun for gooey pastel colors like Intenze fleshtones etc. Also good for robotic perfect pepper shading.

3. Gold and Silver Edition no.3 - More big stroke with the smoothness here. Similar to first machine in list. Very bottom heavy, if you're concerned about perfect balance this one's for you.

4. The Cannon no. 2 - Ridiculously TITS outliner. So much fun I couldn't believe it. Whizzzzz really fast and painless and sooooo quiet. Ok I'm boasting sorry :]

5. The Nameless One - Giant stroke shader, and I mean giant. I think I measured 7 millimeters! You really feel like you are paddling a canoe when you operate this thing. Pretty smooth and painless but I still wouldn't try grey wash with anything less than a 15 mag or so. Wash with a 9 mag in this machine would be a pain in the ass haha. This one will drive a 25 mag all day long without changing.

Prices are based on how much we like the machine sentimentally, how much time went into it, and what premium market prices are for top notch tattoo machines. The functionality is the same, 100 percent on all machines. They are sculptures, in a way...

Ugly Bill at Avalon Tattoo Inc. in PB

I now work at Avalon Tattoo in Pacific Beach, San Diego. My hours are noon-8pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday until further notice. Avalon Tattoo is full of amazing artists. Besides myself, the NEWEST member of the crew is FOUR YEARS DEEP at the shop, so it's a very strong tattoo family. I'm honored to be included.

The shop rate is $150 an hour. Avalon Tattoo Inc. is a very tightly-run ship. When it's tattoo time, we don't play around. I expect to sit down and work for 8 straight hours during every shift.

NO MAMMOGRAMS! There are better ways.

Text and references by Mike Adams(www.naturalnews.com)

While screening is an important step in fighting breast cancer, many researchers are looking for alternatives to mammography. Burton Goldberg totes the safety and accuracy of new thermography technologies. Able to detect cancers at a minute physical stage of development, thermography does not use x-rays, nor is there any compression of the breast. Also important, new thermography technologies do not lose effectiveness with dense breast tissue, decreasing the chances of false-negative results.

Some doctors are now offering digital mammograms. Digital mammography is a mammography system in which x-ray film is replaced by solid-state detectors that convert x-rays into electric signals. Though radiation is still used, digital mammography requires a much smaller dose. The electrical signals are used to produce images that can be electronically manipulated; a physician can zoom in, magnify and optimize different parts of breast tissue without having to take an additional image.

The experts speak on mammograms and breast cancer:
Regular mammography of younger women increases their cancer risks. Analysis of controlled trials over the last decade has shown consistent increases in breast cancer mortality within a few years of commencing screening. This confirms evidence of the high sensitivity of the premenopausal breast, and on cumulative carcinogenic effects of radiation.
The Politics Of Cancer by Samuel S Epstein MD, page 539

In his book, "Preventing Breast Cancer," Dr. Gofinan says that breast cancer is the leading cause of death among American women between the ages of forty-four and fifty-five. Because breast tissue is highly radiation-sensitive, mammograms can cause cancer. The danger can be heightened by a woman's genetic makeup, preexisting benign breast disease, artificial menopause, obesity, and hormonal imbalance.
Death By Medicine by Gary Null PhD, page 23

"The risk of radiation-induced breast cancer has long been a concern to mammographers and has driven the efforts to minimize radiation dose per examination," the panel explained. "Radiation can cause breast cancer in women, and the risk is proportional to dose. The younger the woman at the time of exposure, the greater her lifetime risk for breast cancer.
Under The Influence Modern Medicine by Terry A Rondberg DC, page 122

Furthermore, there is clear evidence that the breast, particularly in premenopausal women, is highly sensitive to radiation, with estimates of increased risk of breast cancer of up to 1% for every rad (radiation absorbed dose) unit of X-ray exposure. This projects up to a 20% increased cancer risk for a woman who, in the 1970s, received 10 annual mammograms of an average two rads each. In spite of this, up to 40% of women over 40 have had mammograms since the mid-1960s, some annually and some with exposures of 5 to 10 rads in a single screening from older, high-dose equipment.
The Politics Of Cancer by Samuel S Epstein MD, page 537

No less questionable—or controversial—has been the use of X rays to detect breast cancer: mammography. The American Cancer Society initially promoted the procedure as a safe and simple way to detect breast tumors early and thus allow women to undergo mastectomies before their cancers had metastasized.
The Cancer Industry by Ralph W Moss, page 23

The American Cancer Society, together with the American College of Radiologists, has insisted on pursuing largescale mammography screening programs for breast cancer, including its use in younger women, even though the NCI and other experts are now agreed that these are likely to cause more cancers than could possibly be detected.
The Politics Of Cancer by Samuel S Epstein MD, page 291

A number of "cancer societies" argued, saying the tests — which cost between $50-200 each - - are a necessity for all women over 40, despite the fact that radiation from yearly mammograms during ages 40-49 has been estimated to cause one additional breast cancer death per 10,000 women.
Under The Influence Modern Medicine by Terry A Rondberg DC, page 21

Mammograms Add to Cancer Risk—mammography exposes the breast to damaging ionizing radiation. John W. Gofman, M.D., Ph.D., an authority on the health effects of ionizing radiation, spent 30 years studying the effects of low-dose radiation on humans. He estimates that 75% of breast cancer could be prevented by avoiding or minimizing exposure to the ionizing radiation from mammography, X rays, and other medical sources. Other research has shown that, since mammographic screening was introduced in 1983, the incidence of a form of breast cancer called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), which represents 12% of all breast cancer cases, has increased by 328%, and 200% of this increase is due to the use of mammography.69 In addition to exposing a woman to harmful radiation, the mammography procedure may help spread an existing mass of cancer cells. During a mammogram, considerable pressure must be placed on the woman's breast, as the breast is squeezed between two flat plastic surfaces. According to some health practitioners, this compression could cause existing cancer cells to metastasize from the breast tissue.
Alternative Medicine by Burton Goldberg, page 588

In fact the benefits of annual screening to women age 40 to 50, who are now being aggressively recruited, are at best controversial. In this age group, one in four cancers is missed at each mammography. Over a decade of pre-menopausal screening, as many as three in 10 women will be mistakenly diagnosed with breast cancer. Moreover, international studies have shown that routine premenopausal mammography is associated with increased breast cancer death rates at older ages. Factors involved include: the high sensitivity of the premenopausal breast to the cumulative carcinogenic effects of mammographic X-radiation; the still higher sensitivity to radiation of women who carry the A-T gene; and the danger that forceful and often painful compression of the breast during mammography may rupture small blood vessels and encourage distant spread of undetected cancers.
The Politics Of Cancer by Samuel S Epstein MD, page 540

Since a mammogram is basically an x-ray (radiation) of the breast, I do not recommend mammograms to my patients for two reasons: 1) Few radiologists are able to read mammogams correctly, therefore limiting their effectiveness. Even the man who developed this technique stated on national television that only about six radiologists in the United States could read them correctly. 2) In addition, each time the breasts are exposed to an x-ray, the risk of breast cancer increases by 2 percent.
The Hope of Living Cancer Free by Francisco Contreras MD, page 104

Mammography itself is radiation: an X-ray picture of the breast to detect a potential tumor. Each woman must weigh for herself the risks and benefits of mammography. As with most carcinogens, there is a latency period or delay between the time of irradiation and the occurrence of breast cancer. This delay can vary up to decades for different people. Response to radiation is especially dramatic in children. Women who received X-rays of the breast area as children have shown increased rates of breast cancer as adults. The first increase is reflected in women younger than thirty-five, who have early onset breast cancer. But for this exposed group, flourishing breast cancer rates continue for another forty years or longer.
Eat To Beat Cancer by J Robert Hatherill, page 132

The use of women as guinea pigs is familiar. There is revealing consistency between the tamoxifen trial and the 1970s trial by the NCI and American Cancer Society involving high-dose mammography of some 300,000 women. Not only is there little evidence of effectiveness of mammography in premeno-pausal women, despite NCI's assurances no warnings were given of the known high risks of breast cancer from the excessive X-ray doses then used. There has been no investigation of the incidence of breast cancer in these high-risk women. Of related concern is the NCI's continuing insistence on premeno-pausal mammography, in spite of contrary warnings by the American College of Physicians and the Canadian Breast Cancer Task Force and in spite of persisting questions about hazards even at current low-dose exposures. These problems are compounded by the NCI's failure to explore safe alternatives, especially transillumination with infrared light scanning.
The Politics Of Cancer by Samuel S Epstein MD, page 544

High Rate of False Positives—mammography's high rate of false-positive test results wastes money and creates unnecessary emotional trauma. A Swedish study of 60,000 women, aged 40-64, who were screened for breast cancer revealed that of the 726 actually referred to oncologists for treatment, 70% were found to be cancer free. According to The Lancet, of the 5% of mammograms that suggest further testing, up to 93% are false positives. The Lancet report further noted that because the great majority of positive screenings are false positives, these inaccurate results lead to many unnecessary biopsies and other invasive surgical procedures. In fact, 70% to 80% of all positive mammograms do not, on biopsy, show any presence of cancer.71 According to some estimates, 90% of these "callbacks" result from unclear readings due to dense overlying breast tissue.72
Alternative Medicine by Burton Goldberg, page 588

"Radiation-related breast cancers occur at least 10 years after exposure," continued the panel. "Radiation from yearly mammograms during ages 40-49 has been estimated to cause one additional breast cancer death per 10,000 women."
Under The Influence Modern Medicine by Terry A Rondberg DC, page 122

According to the National Cancer Institute, there is a high rate of missed tumors in women ages 40-49 which results in 40% false negative test results. Breast tissue in younger women is denser, which makes it more difficult to detect tumours, so tumours grow more quickly in younger women, and tumours may develop between screenings. Because there is no reduction in mortality from breast cancer as a direct result of early mammogram, it is recommended that women under fifty avoid screening mammograms although the American Cancer Society still recommends a mammogram every two years for women age 40-49. Dr. Love states, "We know that mammography works and will be a lifesaving tool for at least 30%."
Treating Cancer With Herbs by Michael Tierra ND, page 467

Equivocal mammogram results lead to unnecessary surgery, and the accuracy rate of mammograms is poor. According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), in women ages 40-49, there is a high rate of "missed tumors," resulting in 40% false-negative mammogram results. Breast tissue in younger women is denser, which makes it more difficult to detect tumors, and tumors grow more quickly in younger women, so cancer may develop between screenings.
Alternative Medicine by Burton Goldberg, page 973

Even worse, spokespeople for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) admit that mammograms miss 25 percent of malignant tumors in women in their 40s (and 10 percent in older women). In fact, one Australian study found that more than half of the breast cancers in younger women are not detectable by mammograms.
Underground Cures by Health Sciences Institute, page 42

Whatever you may be told, refuse routine mammograms to detect early breast cancer, especially if you are premenopausal. The X-rays may actually increase your chances of getting cancer. If you are older, and there are strong reasons to suspect that you may have breast cancer, the risks may be worthwhile. Very few circumstances, if any, should persuade you to have X-rays taken if you are pregnant. The future risks of leukaemia to your unborn child, not to mention birth defects, are just not worth it.
The Politics Of Cancer by Samuel S Epstein MD, page 305

Other medical research has shown that the incidence of a form of breast cancer known as ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), which accounts for 12% of all breast cancer cases, increased by 328% — and 200% of this increase is due to the use of mammography!
Under The Influence Modern Medicine by Terry A Rondberg DC, page 123

As the controversy heated up in 1976, it was revealed that the hundreds of thousands of women enrolled in the program were never told the risk they faced from the procedure (ibid.). Young women faced the greatest danger. In the thirty-five- to fifty-year-old age group, each mammogram increased the subject's chance of contracting breast cancer by 1 percent, according to Dr. Frank Rauscher, then director of the National Cancer Institute (New York Times, August 23, 1976).
The Cancer Industry by Ralph W Moss, page 24

Because there is no reduction in mortality from breast cancer as a direct result of early mammograms, it is recommended that women under 50 avoid screening mammograms, although the American Cancer Society is still recommending a mammogram every two years for women ages 40-49. The NCI recommends that, after age 35, women perform monthly breast self-exams. For women over 50, many doctors still advocate mammograms. However, breast self-exams and safer, more accurate technologies such as thermography should be strongly considered as options to mammography.
Alternative Medicine by Burton Goldberg, page 973

In the midst of the debate, Kodak took out full-page ads in scientific journals entitled "About breast cancer and X-rays: A hopeful message from industry on a sober topic" (see Science, July 2, 1976). Kodak is a major manufacturer of mammography film.
The Cancer Industry by Ralph W Moss, page 24

The largest and most credible study ever done to evaluate the impact of routine mammography on survival has concluded that routine mammograms do significantly reduce deaths from breast cancer. Scientists in the United States, Sweden, Britain, and Taiwan compared the number of deaths from breast cancer diagnosed in the 20 years before mammogram screening became available with the number in the 20 years after its introduction. The research was based on the histories and treatment of 210,000 Swedish women ages 20 to 69. The researchers found that death from breast cancer dropped 44 percent in women who had routine mammography. Among those who refused mammograms during this time period there was only a 16 percent reduction in death from this disease (presumably the decrease was due to better treatment of the malignancy).
Dr Isadore Rosenfeld's Breakthrough Health By Isadore Rosenfeld MD, page 47

In 1993—seventeen years after the first pilot study—the biochemist Mary Wolff and her colleagues conducted the first carefully designed, major study on this issue. They analyzed DDE and PCB levels in the stored blood specimens of 14,290 New York City women who had attended a mammography screening clinic. Within six months, fifty-eight of these women were diagnosed with breast cancer. Wolff matched each of these fifty-eight women to control subjects—women without cancer but of the same age, same menstrual status, and so on—who had also visited the clinic. The blood samples of the women with breast cancer were then compared to their cancer-free counterparts.
Living Downstream by Sandra Steingraber PhD, page 12

One reason may be that mammograms actually increase mortality. In fact numerous studies to date have shown that among the under-50s, more women die from breast cancer among screened groups than among those not given mammograms. The results of the Canadian National Breast Cancer Screening Trial published in 1993, after a screen of 50,000 women between 40-49, showed that more tumors were detected in the screened group, but not only were no lives saved but 36 percent more women died from
The Cancer Handbook by Lynne McTaggart, page 57

One Canadian study found a 52 percent increase in breast cancer mortality in young women given annual mammograms, a procedure whose stated purpose is to prevent cancer. Despite evidence of the link between cancer and radiation exposure to women from mammography, the American Cancer Society has promoted the practice without reservation. Five radiologists have served as ACS presidents.53
When Healing Becomes A Crime by Kenny Ausubel, page 233

Premenopausal women carrying the A-T gene, about 1.5 percent of women, are more radiation sensitive and at higher cancer risk from mammography. It has been estimated that up to 10,000 breast cancer cases each year are due to mammography of A-T carriers.
The Politics Of Cancer by Samuel S Epstein MD, page 539

A study reported that mammography combined with physical exams found 3,500 cancers, 42 percent of which could not be detected by physical exam. However, 31 percent of the tumors were noninfiltrating cancer. Since the course of breast cancer is long, the time difference in cancer detected through mammography may not be a benefit in terms of survival.
Woman's Encyclopedia Of Natural Healing by Dr Gary Null, page 86

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists also has called for more mammograms among women over 50. However, constant screening still can miss breast cancer. mammograms are at their poorest in detecting breast cancer when the woman is under 50.
The Cancer Handbook by Lynne McTaggart, page 53

Despite its shortcomings, every woman between the ages of fifty and sixty-nine should have one every year. I also recommend them annually for women over seventy, even though early detection isn't as important for the slow-growing form of breast cancer they tend to get. One mammogram should probably be taken at age forty to establish a baseline, but how often women should have them after that is debatable. Some authorities favor annual screening. Others feel there's not enough evidence to support screening at all before fifty. Still others believe that every two years is sufficient. I lean toward having individual women and their doctors go over the pros and cons and make their own decisions. Finally, a mammogram is appropriate at any age if a lump has been detected.
The Longevity Code By Zorba Paster MD, page 234

For breast cancer, thermography offers a very early warning system, often able to pinpoint a cancer process five years before it would be detectable by mammography. Most breast tumors have been growing slowly for up to 20 years before they are found by typical diagnostic techniques. Thermography can detect cancers when they are at a minute physical stage of development, when it is still relatively easy to halt and reverse the progression of the cancer. No rays of any kind enter the patient's body; there is no pain or compressing of the breasts as in a mammogram. While mammography tends to lose effectiveness with dense breast tissue, thermography is not dependent upon tissue densities.

Holy Silver!

This info was on someone else's blog. This someone else removed the info after being hassled by the FDA. I was lucky enough to grab it and pass it on to you before that happened. They got hassled because they sell a colloidal silver maker, and also had medical info on the same site where the silver maker was sold. I guess this is forbidden by the FDA.

What is silver water or colloidal silver?

Colloidal Silver is a solution of extremely fine sub microscopic particles (.015 - .005 microns) of pure silver suspended in water by a positive electric charge on each particle. The particles remain suspended throughout the solution because these positive charged particles repel each other with a greater force than gravity can exert upon. A powerful germicidal, silver is an exceptional metal in that it is non-toxic to the human body, but lethal to over 650 disease causing bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites, and molds; while conventional pharmaceutical antibiotics are typically effective against only 6 or 7 types of bacteria. Some new strains of bacteria classified as MDR (Multiple Drug Resistant) have proven to be resistant to all pharmaceutical antibiotics, but not to colloidal silver due to different germicidal mechanisms of deactivation.

How does colloidal silver work?

Richard Davies and Samuel Etris of The Silver Institute, in a 1996 monograph entitled The Development and Functions of Silver in Water Purification and Disease Control, discuss three mechanisms of deactivation that silver utilizes to incapacitate disease causing organisms. They are Catalytic Oxidation, Reaction with Cell Membranes, and Binding with the DNA of disease organisms to prevent unwinding.

Catalytic Oxidation:

Silver, in its atomic state, has the capacity to absorb oxygen and act as a catalyst to bring about oxidation. Atomic (nascent) oxygen absorbed onto the surface of silver ions in solution will readily react with the sulfhydryl (-S-H) groups surrounding the surface of bacteria or viruses to remove the hydrogen atoms (as water), causing the sulfur atoms to form an R-S-S-R bond; blocking respiration and causing the bacteria to expire. Employing a simple catalytic reduction/oxidation reaction, colloidal silver will react with any negative charge presented by the organism's transport or membrane proteins and deactivate them.

Reaction with Bacterial Cell Membranes:

There is evidence that silver ions attach to membrane surface radicals of bacteria, impairing cell respiration and blocking its energy transfer system. One explanation is based on the nature of enzyme construction: Specific enzymes are required for a given biochemical activity to take place. Enzyme molecules usually require a specific metallic atom as part of the molecular matrix in order to function. A metal of higher valance can replace a metal of lower valance in the enzyme complex, preventing the enzyme from functioning normally. Silver, with a valance of plus 2, can replace many metals with a lower, or equal valance that exhibit weaker atomic bonding properties.

Binding with DNA:

Studies by C.L. Fox and S.M. Modak with Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a tenacious bacteria that is difficult to treat, demonstrated that as much as 12% of silver is taken up by the organism's DNA. While it remains unclear exactly how the silver binds to the DNA without destroying the hydrogen bonds holding the lattice together, it nevertheless prevents the DNA from unwinding, an essential step for cellular replication to occur.

How should one use colloidal silver?

Colloidal Silver may be taken orally or topically; applied directly to the skin. It can be used vaginally, anally, atomized or inhaled into the nose or lungs, and dropped into eyes. Liquid silver as well as new gel formulations, may be applied directly to the skin. A few drops on a Q-Tip or Band-Aid may be used to disinfect any wound or sore. Properly prepared, colloidal silver can also be injected into a muscle, a cancerous tumor, or into the bloodstream.

Dosage:
A extremely conservative approach would be to start with 1 or 3 teaspoons once or twice a day, however colloidal silver is not a posionous substance like drugs are and. therefore dosage is not critical-even for children. For colds and flu symptoms, one or two tablespoons 3-6 times daily frequently will speed recovery. Some individuals have reported drinking as much as 16 ozs in the morning and another 16 ozs in the late afternoon to knock down a cold or flu on the first day that symptoms start showing up. They claim that they have been able to completely abort the cold or flu on the first day of symptoms.

For mouth infections, frequently rinse the affected area for at least 6 minutes before swallowing. Overdosing should not be of concern, even if recommended doses are exceeded. If, after a few days of use, one experiences a de-toxification effect in the form of feeling sluggish or mild aches, increase water consumption to speed the elimination of toxins and taper back the silver dosage to match the rate of toxin elimination. It is safe for pregnant and nursing women and is known to aid the developing fetus in growth. It will not generate free radicals or interfere with enzyme activity. It has no reaction with other medications.

Are there any dangers or side effects?

The Environmental Protection Agency's Poison Control Center reports no toxicity listing for Colloidal Silver. Regular ingestion of colloidal silver can act as a second immune system by assisting the body in the war against invading micro-organisms. Unlike pharmaceutical antibiotic which destroy beneficial enzymes, colloidal silver leaves these tissue cell enzymes intact.
<

Colloidal Silver, if used sensibly, is completely non-toxic and will not harm the immune system in any way. Critics of colloidal silver will often warn that regular consumption of colloidal silver might lead to Argyria, a bluish/ gray discoloration of the skin. Dr. Bob Beck debunks this statement as a scare tactic by pro pharmaceutical interests. Dr Beck has indicated that Argyria is caused by silver compounds, such as silver nitrate, silver sulfate, silver sulfadiazine, etc., and not micro particles of pure elemental silver. Apparently, silver colloids are mostly absorbed in the upper gastrointestinal tract, since colloidal silver does not seem to adversely affect friendly bacteria in the lower intestines. Silver can be toxic to nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, but is normally prevented from entering those areas by the blood-brain barrier. Silver has not demonstrated any evidence of carcinogenic activity.

The body eliminates excess silver via the metallothiones. These ubiquitous proteins, first characterized in 1957, have the property of binding with heavy metals, such as silver, into metal-thiolate-cluster structures which aid in transportation, storage, and elimination of nonessential trace metals which enter the body.

How much research has been done on colloidal silver?

Silver has been used as a germicide for thousands of years. Ancient texts, including Pliny the Elder's great tome, Natural History, Book 23 (78 A.D.) discusses the extraordinary wound healing capacity of silver slag as an ingredient in plasters. The German obstetrician, Franz Crede, observed in 1884 that up to 79% of blind children in various orphanages and institutions were born to mothers who, at the time of the child's birth, had venereal disease. He found that a 1% solution of silver nitrate dropped into the eyes of newborns, reduced the incidence of VD caused blindness to less than 0.2%. In 1988, colloidal silver was tested at the UCLA Medical Laboratory.

The UCLA report stated that " The silver solutions were antibacterial for concentrations of 1 million organisms per ml of Streptococcus pyogenes, Staphylococcus aureus [which in now resistant to Vancomycin, the strongest pharmaceutical antibiotic available] , Neisseria gonorrhea, Gardnerella Vaginalis, Salmonella Typhi [responsible for salmonella food poisoning and Typhus], and other enteric pathogens; and fungicidal for Candida albicans [the common yeast infection, in vaginitis and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome], Candida globata, and M. Furfur.
"

Dr Robert Becker, M.D., author of The Body Electric and Crosscurrents found that silver caused cells to dedifferentiate and re-differentiate in the process of regenerative healing.

" What we had actually done was rediscovered the fact that silver killed bacteria, which had been known for centuries...when antibiotics were discovered, clinical uses for silver as an antibiotic were discarded." Becker said in a 1995 interview with Bio/Tech News.

Dr Becker conducted extensive research into the healing properties of silver for many years at the Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York. The experiments concluded that silver works on a wide range of bacteria, without any known side effects or damage to the cells of the body. Becker discovered that the silver was doing something more than just killing disease causing organisms: He said it was also causing major growth stimulation of injured tissues. Dr. Becker concluded that the presence of the silver ions may help to regenerate tissue, eliminate old or cancerous cells, and other diseased or abnormal tissue conditions.

Dr. Henry Crooks (author, Use of Colloids in Health Disease) found that silver in the colloidal state is highly germicidal, quite harmless to humans and absolutely non-toxic. From his bacteriological experiments with silver he concluded, "I know of no microbe that is not killed in laboratory experiments in six minutes.
"

Dr. Bjorn Nordenstrom, of the Larolinska Institute, Sweden, has successfully used silver as a component in his cancer treatments for many years. Dr. Leonard Keene Hirschberg, A. M., M. D. (John Hopkins) states, "Speaking generally, the colloidal metals are especially remarkable for their beneficial action in infective states." Dr. Richard L. Davies, executive director of the Silver Institute, which monitors silver technology in 37 countries, reports: "In four years we've described 87 important new medical uses for silver. We're just beginning to see to what extent silver can relieve suffering.
"

Finally, Peter Lindemann reports in his 1997 article, Colloidal Silver, A Closer Look that a study conducted in part by the Institute of Microbiology in Rome, Italy and published in Applied and Environmental Microbiology (Dec. 1992), stated that "Pure electro-colloidal silver out- performed silver nitrate, silver chloride, and silver sulfadiazine as a broad spectrum germicide. For all classes of bacteria, fungus, and mold samples tested, pure electro-colloidal silver worked better, and at much lower concentrations. They concluded that any additives reduced the effectiveness of the pure silver ion; the silver salts being as much as 100 times less effective.
"

What is the FDA's standpoint on colloidal silver?
Since colloidal silver was in common use as an antibiotic prior to 1938 when the FDA was created, its use was grandfathered-in and not subject to FDA approval. Many promoters of colloidal silver had ballyhooed a 1991 letter authored by the FDA which they said (at the time) that they would not attempt to control colloidal silver as long as its uses were confined to pre 1938 published protocols. However, the growing popularity of colloidal since 1991, has created pressure from threatened pharmaceutical interests to get the FDA to regulate the availability of colloidal silver.[Update: Feb 2001 the FDA now claims jurisdiction over the sale of colloidal silver and will not allow any "medical claims" be made in association with the sale of colloidal silver.
]

As a result, today the FDA is attempting to subvert the grandfather clause and is seeking to gain approval status over the use and production of colloidal silver on the outrageous premise that since colloidal silver has proven to be such an effective broad spectrum germ fighter in its ability to cure new strains of bacteria (not in existence in 1938), that its use should be subject to their jurisdiction! It's clear to anyone who examines the subject, that the FDA is a champion for the pharmaceutical industry and on their behalf attempts to suppress the use of cheap, non-patentable, natural, alternative therapies at every opportunity. Silver, after all, is merely a metal. It's a harmless element of Nature.
What business does the FDA have in attempting to regulate its use?

Bill's comment: Make no mistake... Colloidal silver is a KILLING WEAPON, not a nutritional adjustment. I only use SOVEREIGN SILVER(www.natural-immunogenics.com) because I am confident that they are telling the truth about their product's safety, and because SUCH A TINY AMOUNT of product is so effective.

What About Myanmar?

it seems that lots of media stars are jumping on the bandwagon about toppling the dictator of myanmar. the media is the main source of our american thoughts. it's the propaganda machine used to create what most of us think, to get us to support evil govt with our blood and money. aren't the actors and movie stars our heroes?

yup...they're also the puppets of the media conglomerates. the media conglomerates don't give a shit about you, the world, or people in the film industry. all big media is owned by oil companies, pharmaceutical companies, plastic and chemical companies and so on... you might say "come on, at least the actors THINK they're supporting a humanitarian cause... and following the trends is something they have to do to protect their paycheck..."

i don't support wars over OIL AND NATURAL GAS IN SMALL COUNTRIES. mark my words, the oil companies that own so much of OUR GOVT are going to topple that dictator, regardless of any other consequence... for the pipelines. and you, america, will support that move, because your heroes will endorse it. fuck that... none for me, thanks.

The ONE CHILD LAW

Yes that's right, I brought it up... There's only one thing that can save the planet, and that's POPULATION CONTROL. You've heard all the crazy conspiracy theories. Most of them sound too extreme to me. The financial planners that own our govt have a plan for us, the population... but that plan is very general and vague. Perhaps you, the average consumer, aren't alarmed because all the theories about this topic seem so wild. Therefore you aren't interested in taking a deeper look. Your reaction to wild conspiracy theories has made it easier for the money-controllers to shape the world unobserved.

The human race are overrunning the planet like rats, pigeons or cockroaches. The differences with us are that a) we choose to do this and b) we can easily destroy our planet in just a couple days. Ordinary vermin carry out important functions in the biosphere - humans destroy the biosphere.

Overpopulation creates Earth-threatening emergencies. Now that humans are humping indiscriminately like lower primates in every corner of the globe, all the money-controllers need to do is shape and guide this constant supply of fresh meat through MEDIA.

EVEN AT THE CURRENT RATE OF POPULATION WE WILL SOON DESTROY THE EARTH. We cannot sustain at this rate. We must drastically REDUCE the population and the birth rate very soon, within a few generations, or this planet will die.

People think EVERY CHILD IS PRECIOUS, SO ITS OK IF WE SQUEEZE OUT ANOTHER ONE but it's really not ok. The privilege of bearing children is just that, a privilege. It's not a given right to contaminate this world with another consumer, another polluter, another body. In mindless life forms, reproducing is a natural and necessary function. Not so for humans. Every child born is an emergency for the planet!

If our children aren't raised by the state(school system) and media(your children are raised by MEDIA - how disgusting), and if we teach them globally conscious values, perhaps consumer culture won't be so selfish within a few generations. As of right now, most of the stimuli your children get from their environment involve shaping them into oil burners, plastic users, and dishonest bodies of mindless humping...

China had the best idea when it had a one child policy. Too bad their society wasn't ready to handle this responsibly. They had too many male children! Guess what happens to the rest of the world when a country that huge has too many male children...

If every TWO people had ONE child, we could save the planet.

The earth's total land surface is 149 million square kilometers. Half to three-fourths of that is not suitable to live on.

The human population is supposed to reach 7 billion in 2013.

Do the math, the answer to the emergency is simple... REDUCE THE POPULATION.

BUT, do we want the media-controlling authorities to help us slide into destruction? Do we want to die of starvation and being overrun by vermin? All the emergencies we create on this planet will create emergencies. Solutions to these emergencies will involve MONEY, your money. We will have to pay for licenses to save ourselves from emergencies we created ourselves. We will be driven to the edge of extinction through our own ignorance and dependence on media. We will run screaming to the authorities for solutions, which won't be available to the common person...

There's only one solution, at this point in the game... POPULATION CONTROL.

REPRODUCE RESPONSIBLY and turn off the television. It's really poisonous.

On Leaving Big Fish Tattoo

As of yesterday, I no longer tattoo at Big Fish Tattoo in Solana Beach. We parted ways on the best of terms. The owner(Dave Hartman) and I decided it was better for me to work somewhere closer to my home in Clairemont. I used to live right down the street in Solana Beach so it was easy and made sense. We also agreed that since I'm only doing a few appointments a week, I'm sort of taking up space in his amazing shop. Dave will be bringing on another great artist who will be able to work full time and give the space the attention it deserves.

I will still recommend certain tattoo clients to Dave and Christian at Big Fish Tattoo! They are great guys and great artists.

As most of you know, making tattoo machines takes up most of my time and energy these days. I'll be tattooing a few appointments and/or walk-ins a week, very soon, at a shop in San Diego.

Thanks to my tattoo clients, without whom I would not exist, for your continued support and patience. I'll let everyone know as soon as I get into a new tattoo space.

Silver Subversives

I call these machines Silver Subversives, or Silver Subs. They weigh half of what a normal coil machine weighs. They tattoo super fast and intuitively. I hate selling them, but I seriously can't afford to own more than one at a time right now. Pretty soon I'll have a whole RACK of them haha. They are daily drivers, not collectibles. If you tattoo, you will likely set up this machine for EVERY tattoo procedure. If you get tattoos, you will hope your artist uses a Special Technique rotary every time, once you feel one in your skin. They hurt less, and go faster. There is one left of the first 3 Silver Sub prototypes. It RULES as a shader. Next up is a batch of 8 machines, my first production run! Well, back to the machine shop!

Copper Pots and Ray Guns

These machines tattoo really sweet. The shaders also do fat outlines like butter, and the liners do grey wash in an unusually perfect and predictable fashion. Every time I sell a machine, it's like a horrible breakup. I sleep next to every one, and I try to tattoo with every one as well. If I send you your machine without tattooing with it first, it's because I can tell that it has "the magic." I needle hard rubber for an hour or so once I assemble each machine. This places much greater demand on the machine than human skin does, and I can tell how it's going to tattoo from this test. I just made my first all-steel flywheel. That's going to Ron Earhart on his new shader. I also decided that tattooing demands too much from the offset pin to make it out of brass, so those will all be steel from now on. The current tube vise style I make is very grabby and reliable. If you have a hard time loading your tubes because they are extra fat, just pry open the vise a bit(carefully!) with a screwdriver. Make sure you loosen the thumbscrew first, duh :] I can't wait til everyone has TWO of my machines so we can all get excited about this new dimension in tattooing together!

Kansas City Tattoo Convention 2010

Well, my pals Jim and Peter rolled out the red carpet for this one. I stayed at their house and had Jim's 2nd car for the whole week I stayed! This made everything soooo much easier. I was able to dive into tattoos at the convention, and was still able to have some much needed downtime in KC. The convention was really fun. A bunch of regular ol tattoo fans were waiting outside the door at opening time on Saturday! It's been a while since I've seen that sort of enthusiasm in the tattoo biz. It seemed like everyone worked and made some money this event. The Mercy Seat booth was kinda in a separate front room, and in our room at least, the vibe was awesome. I didn't get to see much of the convention because I was working at it! See you next year at the Real Deal KC Tattoo Convention.

R.I.P. Static Lounge San Diego

Dear Friends of Static, My name is Travis and for the past three years I have been the owner of Static Lounge. The club has changed drastically in that time from a live alternative music venue to a club dedicated to providing a safe, fun, and alcohol free place for San Diego's young adults. I have learned some hard lessons in the past three years but for the past year I believe we found something that San Diego desperately needed and it worked. Static was a stepping stone for those under 21. A place where young adults could go free from the influence of alcohol. A place where everyone not just those under 21 could come and learn that it is possible to have fun and to dance with out the booze. A place were everyone could come and just be themselves. For almost a year that worked and it truly was something special. In the last several months as I am sure you are all aware other 18+ events and clubs started to pop up. These places however did not provide a place free from the influence of alcohol and in my opinion did not operate within the law. These places were licensed to be restaurants so SDPD allowed them to have people in who are under 21, even though it is clear they are nightclubs. While Static still did a good job of competing with the other clubs serving alcohol, when you add in the down turn of the economy it simply wasn't enough for us to keep our doors open. I tried with all my might to find solutions. The City of San Diego, the City Council and the San Diego Police Department however did not support my effort to provide an alcohol free place for San Diego's young adults. The City council did nothing but give me the run around. The SDPD went as far as to shut me down at 10pm on July 3rd 2009 for a clerical error on my part in getting my entertainment license renewed. Yes that's right one must have the permission of the SDPD to allow customers to Dance. They even threatened to arrest me when I asked the question "Are you really going to shut down the only alcohol free night club in San Diego?"The reason my license did not get renewed on time is because they did not know what to do with a nightclub that did not have alcohol. I was even advised by a SDPD detective to bring the booze back, it would be easier he said. Almost six weeks went by before I was able to get my permit back causing me irreversible financial damage. This set back along with the economy and the competition from 18+ places serving alcohol has made it impossible for me to keep Static Lounge open. It breaks my heart to have to walk away knowing there are no other safe alternatives for those under 21 to go. I feel ashamed for my city as many of the regulars at Static were men and women in uniform. What kind of message are we sending to them when we let them fight for our county but we can't even provide them with a safe place to have fun. I have seen first hand the devastating effects of alcohol and hope that someday San Diego will wake up and see the importance of having safe alcohol free places for the young adults of this city. I am not sure what is next for me I have lost everything to keep Static open as long as we did. I may look for another city one which would support a alcohol free night club. I also would love to help someone else who might be interested in opening up something similar to Static provided it is alcohol free, maybe my hard lessons could go to some use and help pave the way. I hope the City of San Diego wakes up soon and gives their full support to any future alcohol free clubs that might open up. If you are upset about the loss of San Diego's only alcohol free night club please speak up and call your council office, call the SDPD and make your voices heard. Thank you all for your support. Regretfully, Travis

Baddest Stuff Ever Post No. 2

I gotta confess... I dropped my Palm Pixi sooo hard yesterday that I really don't deserve to own a phone. I believe it landed at such an angle as to ding up TWO corners of the phone, not just one. A lil massaging with my finger and fingernail and the dings are almost imperceptible. The phone seems unaffected! To be continued...

Baddest Stuff Ever

It occurred to me recently that the stuff in my life is the coolest stuff EVER, so I'm going to be annoying and brag about it all. I have the most amazing boss, the most amazing friends, and the most amazing girlfriend too. But this post is about STUFF. I have the Baddest car, baddest tattoo machines, baddest phone, baddest watch and other great stuff. I am truly blessed, lucky, and thankful.

Baddest Stuff Ever Post No. 1

The Palm Pixi is the most intuitive device I've ever used. I was cracking up when I first used it. It's really like they saw me coming, and got this thing ready for me. I guess that's true since I had the Centro before that, and the Treo before that. But wow, the Pre navigation with no slide-open... it's like the Centro on speed. I'm glad I skipped the Pre and went straight to the Pixi.

So far I have ruined the screen protector by getting dust under it while applying it, spattered rainwater from squeegeeing my car window on it, and left it sitting in a lil puddle of Madacide sanitizing solution. Dear New Phone, please forgive my clumsiness. You rule.

Pets and Biohazardous Cross-Contamination

I am not a pet owner. I don't like cages, for me or any animal. Perhaps I will own a farm one day, and then we'll see about ADOPTING a pet. I'm not perfect, but I do make an effort to enforce my ethics in a heartfelt way.

When you get sick, or infected, bad companies profit. By "bad companies" I mean those companies that sell you medicines that don't work, or medicines that work poorly while filling up your body with (more) toxic bullshit.

Animals play with poo, and then they play with you...

Your pets bring bacteria and viruses into your life. You probably don't address this because of the social stigma that's associated with "sick" or "infected." Your relationship with your pet is soooo sacred to you that you simply can't imagine the spectre of medical misinformation and ignorance creeping into your life through your pet.

Guess what? Americans are primarily IGNORANT GERM COOKERS providing a guaranteed income for various crooked power structures. When your cat brings new strains of staph into your home, for example, the medical establishment laughs all the way to the bank. Hospitals are just waiting for you to bring in the new strain and trade illnesses with other sick people.

You can still keep your pet, and be safe from germs. For example, SOVEREIGN SILVER(www.natural-immunogenics.com) is safe for you AND your pet to consume. It works great as a topical antimicrobial(for paws and noses) and is safe to ingest in large quantities. The best thing about this product, however, is that you HARDLY HAVE TO USE ANY.

Colloidal silver is just one answer to the pet/biohazard issue. G.S.E. is another great germ killer that you dilute and apply anywhere. Use both of these products on yourself and your pets and keep your home safe.

Remember... animals play with poo, and then they play with you... take the extra steps people...
